Housing minister Paul McLennan visits Aurora Apartments

Great to welcome housing minister Paul McLennan to see the first cladding remediation scheme that’s been finished as part of The Scottish Government’s pilot programme.

The minister joined the remediation team at the Aurora Apartments in Aberdeen to discuss the works carried out, where the Grenfell-style cladding was removed and replaced, along with combustible wall insulation.

 The Aurora Apartments are one of several 'high priority' buildings in Scotland to be included in the Government's pilot programme on cladding remediation through the Single Building Assessment (SBA).

Brooker Diamond Chartered Fire Engineers and Diamond and Co. Building Consultancy carried out an extensive survey of the building to assess the fire risks and identify combustible materials, which included external laser scanning with a drone.

 Extensive remediation work carried out by NORTH EAST CONTRACTS LIMITED and Jacqueline Hacking on the nine-storey block means the building now meets new strict fire guidance.

Trinity Factors, led by Paula Roberts MA (hons) AIRPM, acted on behalf of those living in the 22 flats.
